Hospitals are Ignorant too

January 12th, 2010

I have a relative in hospital.  On a recent visit my young son needed to use the bathroom so I took him into the ensuite and couldn’t help but read the ingredients listed on the hand wash which was attached to the wall.  It was a Toxic Time Bomb!! – SLES, DEA, propylene glycol, PEG,  just to name a few.  Most people would hope that the local hospital would be a “safe” haven.

The staff may be wonderful at “patching us up” but let’s face it, no-one in that hospital obviously has any idea about the carcinogens, nitrosamines, mutagens and teratogens that are penetrating their bodies, and their patients’.

When ingredients such as these are banned in other countries in the world, shouldn’t we be asking the question – why do we allow them?

What else stinks is the fact that the supplier (a pharmaceutical company) is making a fortune from selling absolute cheap, nasty garbage to seemingly blissfully ignorant consumers – ones that are supposed to be helping us get well!!  Go Figure?!

Of note:

  • SLES and SLS (sodium laureth and sodium lauryl sulphate) breaks down the layers between the skin and affects our immune systems.  It also causes irreparable damage to the eyes, especially young children – and it’s in just about everything in your bathroom!!).
  • DEA (diethanolamine) is a well known carcinogen which absorbs straight through your skin into your blood stream – ask any chemist or scientist.
  • Propylene Glycol is the anti-freeze you put in your car.  On your skin it is a humectant which attracts moisture – under a microscope it actually attracts the moisture from your skin causing premature aging – and guess what – it’s in most so-called anti-aging products on the market!
  • PEG is short for polyethylene glycol – these cause all sorts of kidney and liver problems in the body, and are carcinogenic.  They’re in just about everything too!

I recommend and use a whole bunch of wonderfully safe products that do not have any of these ingredients, nor a whole stack of other baddies.  Ask me…
