Toxic Tim Tams

October 13th, 2009

Oh No please don’t tell me… Tim Tams are toxic?  But they’re an Australian icon aren’t they?  Ever wonder why they’re exclusive to Australia?  Might be because of the artificial colours 102 and 110 – banned in other parts of the world because they’re toxic waste and known to cause cancer.  And you thought cocoa was brown?  Logic would say that yes, real cocoa is brown – and isn’t that the colour of a Tim Tam biscuit?  So why do food manufacturers insist on putting additives into food?

How many times do you apply toxic chemicals to your body in a day?

August 25th, 2009

Take a quick check-list of your body’s toxic onslaught in one day…

AM

  1. Toothpaste (well I hope you cleaned your teeth this morning!!)
  2. Mouthwash
  3. Shampoo
  4. Conditioner
  5. Soap
  6. Hand & Body wash
  7. Shaving cream / gel
  8. After-Shave (the boys only?)
  9. Deodorant
  10. Cleanser
  11. Toner
  12. Eye cream
  13. Face moisturiser
  14. Hand & Body moisturiser
  15. Primer
  16. Foundation
  17. Eye-shadow
  18. Eye-liner
  19. Mascara
  20. Blush
  21. Lip-liner
  22. Lipstick &/or Lip gloss
  23. Hair gel &/or Mousse
  24. Hair spray

And that’s just in the morning before you go out the door!!!

So if each of the products above have toxic chemicals in them and you’re applying them to your body once a day, sometimes twice or more, every day of every week of every year – do you think you may have a build-up of toxic chemicals in your system?  I mean where do you think they go?  Do you think they wash off?  Nuh-uh – straight into your blood stream Honey, taking up residence in your vital organs and slowly but surely sending you to a faster demise, not to mention making you look a whole lot older than younger… oh but the product says it’s anti-aging doesn’t it?!

All I can say is… it might be worth looking a little closer at what we’re putting on us and our kids, and start asking questions.

A child dies 2 weeks before it’s 3rd birthday.. from what? CANCER – you’ve got to be kidding!!

August 18th, 2009

What’s going on?  A child can die under the age of 3 from cancer?  That’s so terribly wrong!  When did this start happening?  Hearing of babies being born with leukaemia, being treated with deadly drugs… come on, when has there been such a bigger wake-up call.  Are we supposed to accept that this is how it is… how life is meant to be?

I wonder if anyone suggested to the mother that it may have been because of her lifestyle, what she was putting in her mouth and on her body, what she was exposed to before and during her pregnancy.

There is research which shows that on day 18 (most women wouldn’t even know that they were pregnant at such an early stage), if a woman steps into a hot car, the fumes that are emitted from the car’s interior are enough to damage the reproductive organs of a female foetus… damage them to the extent that she will never be able to reproduce.

So what else are we doing, what else are we being exposed to, what else is hurting our unborn and damaging our ability to reproduce?

Hmmm…

What’s on my mind? The Pill…

August 10th, 2009

The Pill… what is it doing to the female body? A friend had a discussion with her boyfriend regarding the pill versus condoms. Her boyfriend was a little… you could say ‘put-off’ by her suggestion that she would not take the pill anymore, and so wanted to use condoms. She asked him if he knew what the pill was doing to her body. He wasn’t sure so she explained that it basically stops her egg from being released. She then asked him, “if you were given a pill to stop your sperm even though you were still able to orgasm, would you think that’s normal?” He said no and agreed to use condoms. Congratulations to another smart couple!  Check this video out…

Organic?… Natural?… But is it SAFE?

August 7th, 2009

How do the words ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ make you feel?   Healthy, fit, clean, pure… perhaps SAFE?   I feel everything GOOD coming from these two words but unfortunately there is alot of BAD when it comes to organic and natural personal care products.   There are companies claiming to produce ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ baby care, personal care and cosmetics that know full well that the products are not what you think they are.  Oh, don’t get me wrong… if they say they’re organic or natural they certainly have an organic or natural ingredient in them (note – it only has to be one!!).  But… I ask you – what is the point of having an organic or natural ingredient sitting right next to a toxic chemical ?  You know what toxic means don’t you?  Yep – POISON !!   Do you think this might be just a little strange?  Not to mention downright disgusting?  I mean, how dare they?

Have a look at the back of the next bottle of  ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ shampoo, conditioner or body wash and see for yourself.  If you don’t know what toxic chemical names to look for, write some of the ingredients down and do a search.  The most common ones you will see are sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol, diethanolamine, ethers, dioxins, coal tar… and the list goes on.

These toxic ingredients are known to be eye and skin irritants, create liver and kidney problems, and some are carcinogens.  And although the companies will dispute their products’ toxicity by saying there is a regulated (according to the Australian TGA) amount in their products, it is well documented that over time (in fact from conception), every day multiple exposure to these ingredients can cause harm to us and especially our children.

It is interesting to note that there are countries in the world that have never ever allowed the ingredients above to be used in any products that come into contact with humans.

Angie :-)
